Valetudo (also Jupiter LXII) is one of the smaller moons of the planet Jupiter .
discovery
Valetudo was discovered in 2017 by astronomers Scott S. Sheppard and Chad Trujillo on images dating back to March 9, 2016. It was initially given the provisional designation S / 2016 J 2 and was officially named on October 3, 2018 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) after Valetudo , a great-granddaughter of the Roman god Jupiter ; Valetudo is the Roman variant of the goddess Hygieia from Greek mythology .

Valetudo orbits Jupiter with a major semi-axis of approx. 24 million kilometers in approx. 523 days. The track has an eccentricity of 0.222. The track has a slope of 34 °.
