Farbauti (also Saturn XL) is one of the smaller outer moons of the planet Saturn .
discovery
The discovery of Farbauti by David C. Jewitt , Scott S. Sheppard , Jan Kleyna and Brian G. Marsden on recordings from December 12, 2004 to March 9, 2005, was announced on May 3, 2005.
Farbauti was initially given the provisional designation S / 2004 S 9. In April 2007, the moon was named after the storm giant Fárbauti , the father of the god Loki , from Norse mythology .
Orbit data
Farbauti orbits Saturn on a retrograde eccentric orbit in around 1086 days. The orbit eccentricity is 0.206, with the orbit inclined at 156.4 ° to the ecliptic .
Structure and physical data
Farbauti has a diameter of about 5 km.
