Saavedra is a district on the northern outskirts of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . It has 51,723 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of ​​5.9 km² . Saavedra was named after Cornelio Saavedra (1759-1829), a key player in the May Revolution , who later also became president.
