St. Leonhard am Hornerwald is located in the Waldviertel in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the market town covers 51.4 square kilometers. About 50 percent of the area is forested.

Culture and sights

  • Rundersburg Castle : The ruins of Rundersburg Castle are located northwest of St. Leonhard. The castle was built in 1150, but from 1300 it was abandoned and fell into disrepair. Parts of the former keep are still preserved from the castle .
  • Catholic parish church St. Leonhard am Hornerwald hl. Leonhard: The late Baroque parish church, which looks far into the landscape on a hill, was built around 1770.
  • Handicraft museum: The handicraft museum is manned on demonstration Sundays by volunteers who demonstrate a wide variety of handicrafts as they were practiced in the past. There is a museum cafe in the same building.
