Location of Schönhof in Solingen

Schönhof is a location in the mountainous city of Solingen .

geography

The Schönhof location is directly adjacent to the Gräfrath Parkfriedhof between Mühlenbusch and Ziegelfeld, south of the Gräfrath old town. The band mill is located in the northwest . Further to the south is the Nümmen court .

history

The location was probably built on the basis of a single house in the first half of the 19th century. The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 does not yet record the place , the Prussian first survey of 1843 recorded it without any labels. In the topographic map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871, however, the place is not recorded.

After the Mairien and later mayor's offices were founded at the beginning of the 19th century, Schönhof belonged to the Gräfrath mayor's office . In 1887, the Solingen-Wuppertal-Vohwinkel railway line was laid directly past the village . At Schönhof the railway line crosses Walder Straße on an old railway bridge .

With the town union of Groß-Solingen in 1929 Schönhof became a district of Solingen. The buildings that still exist today are completely numbered towards Walder Straße, but the place name Schönhof is still recorded in the Solingen city map.
