history

The Hofschaft Schafenhaus is not yet recorded in the map series Topographia Ducatus Montani , Blatt Amt Solingen , by Erich Philipp Ploennies in 1715 . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 record what would later become the Schafenhaus farm as Kronenfeld. In the topographic map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871, the court is also shown as Kronenfeld .

After the Mairien and later mayor's offices were founded at the beginning of the 19th century, the court belonged to the Gräfrath mayor's office . In 1815/16 there were 20 people living in the village. In 1830, 23 people lived in Kronenfeld. In 1832 Schafenhaus was part of the Honschaft (Ketz-) Berg within the Gräfrath mayor's office. The place, categorized as Hofstadt according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had four residential buildings, two factories or mills and two agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 28 residents lived in the village, including one Catholic and 27 Evangelical denominations. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with four houses and 46 inhabitants. In 1885, the municipality encyclopedia for the Rhineland province lists eight houses with 49 inhabitants. In 1895 the district had seven houses with 57 inhabitants, in 1905 seven houses and 59 inhabitants are given.

With the town union of Groß-Solingen in 1929, Schafenhaus became a district of Solingen. The verschieferte timbered house sheep house 2, 4 October 16, 1985 as registered monument part of the Solingen monument list .
