Scheiderirlen , Scheidter Irlen or Scheidter Heide was a location in the Gräfrath district of Solingen . In the Scheiderirlen the gallows of the office of Solingen was once located .

geography

Scheiderirlen was east of the Obenscheidt court , which was still in the forest area, roughly on today's Allee and Donaustraße. To the south and south-east are the courts II and III. Stick dumb . To the northeast lies the Busch estate .

etymology

The Walder Scheid or Scheidt was a forest area in the border area to the parish of Solingen. It comprised the farms Oben- and Untenscheidt , as well as Scheiderfeld , Mummenscheid , the Scheider mill and the locality Scheiderirlen. The word Irlen stands for alder trees , so there may have been an alder forest there. Irlen was also called the rubble dump outside the cities , as alder trees were often planted in the swamp at the same time .

history

The gallows of the Office of Solingen was located at the location of the later residential area, approximately in the current intersection of Allee- and Donaustraße. The names of the blade craftsmen who emigrated contrary to their oath were allegedly struck on the gallows .

The Scheiderirlen residential area was probably built in the second half of the 19th century. The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824, the Prussian first survey of 1844 and the topographic map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871 do not record the location.

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland in 1885 a house with three inhabitants is given. In 1895 the district had two houses with twelve inhabitants, in 1905 two houses and 17 inhabitants are given.

The place name Scheiderirlen is no longer recorded in the city maps since 1929.
