Location of Heide in Solingen

Heide is a court in the Solingen district of Wald .

geography

Heide is located south of Foche on the northern slope of the Demmeltrath Bachtal . Today the farm can be reached via two access roads from Landesstraße 85, Focher Straße. To the east of Heide lies the Zentral , to the west the former Vogelsang and Demmeltrath farms .

etymology

The name probably derives from the heather herbs that used to grow there. Heath as a field name occurs several times in Solingen, for example in Heidberg , Heidufer or the Heider Hof .

history

The Hofschaft Heide existed at least in the early 13th century. In the collection register of the Gerresheim Monastery from 1212/1232, the farm is named as the property of the monastery. In 1232 Heide was sold to the Gräfrath Monastery . In a document from 1594 the farm is mentioned as being in the heathen . Heide belonged to the Honschaft Ketzberg within the office of Solingen . The farm is recorded as Heidt on the map of Erich Philipp Ploennies in 1715 . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 lists the place as In d. Heiden and the Prussian premiere from 1844 as In der Heide . In the topographic map of the Düsseldorf administrative district from 1871, however, Heide is not listed.

After the Mairien and later mayor's offices were founded at the beginning of the 19th century, Heide belonged to the Gräfrath mayor's office . In 1815/16 31 people lived in the village. In 1830 36 people lived in the village. In 1832 Heide was still part of the Honschaft (Ketz-) Berg within the Gräfrath mayor. The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , had five residential buildings, two factories or mills and seven agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 31 residents lived in the village, all of whom were evangelicals. The municipality and estate district statistics of the Rhine Province list the place in 1871 with nine houses and 66 inhabitants. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, nine residential buildings with 69 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the district had nine houses with 54 inhabitants, in 1905 twelve houses and 131 inhabitants are given.

With the town union of Groß-Solingen in 1929 the Hofschaft Heide became a district of Solingen. After the demolition of the factories northeast of Heide in the last quarter of the 20th century, there is now a large hardware store with parking spaces that border the courtyard today. According to today's city district boundaries, heather belongs to forest.
