Schematic war organization of the Wehrmacht on June 22, 1941
The schematic war organization of the Wehrmacht on June 22, 1941 shows the formation of the army and the air force of the Wehrmacht at the beginning of the attack on the Soviet Union . The army was divided into three army groups . The air force was divided into three air fleets, which were independent, but should work closely with the respective army group. The divisions of the army belonged to different deployment waves , with the divisions of the 1st and 2nd deployment waves being the best equipped in terms of personnel and material.
