Castle and other cultural monuments

The core of Schloss Batzdorf goes back to Romanesque architecture . Due to structural changes, a picture from the 16th and 17th centuries emerges today. Important parts of the winding castle complex are the manor house , the hall and the chapel. The castle belonged to the Barons von Miltitz from 1437 to 1880 , then by marriage to the Barons von Friesen -Miltitz until it was expropriated by the land reform in 1945 . Today the castle is owned by the association “Schloß Batzdorf e. V. ”and is known as the place of origin of the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle , which has organized the Batzdorfer Baroque Festival here every year since 1993. Large parts of the castle have been developed for residential purposes, including the actor Tom Quaas .

The death house on Elbleitenweg , a vineyard house with a surrounding linden grove, is also the property of the association. From the house you have a good view of the Deutsche Bosel on the right side of the Elbe.

In addition to the castle, several other buildings in the village are protected as cultural monuments (see list of cultural monuments in Batzdorf ).
