Schwaighof (Velburg)

The Schwaighof is a named district and an uninhabited, abandoned hamlet in the municipality of Velburg in the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate .

The hamlet is located at the foot of the 613 meter high castle hill on which the Helfenberg castle ruins are located. The buildings of the Schwaighof were mainly built from stone remains from the castle. The Schwaighof was abandoned in the 1970 / 1980s, is now uninhabited and in poor condition.

The place consists of an Upper Palatinate farmhouse with stable and barn as well as a plant garden. In dialect, the Schwaighof is called "Schoahof".
