Zelenogorski ( Russian Зеленого́рский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Kemerovo Oblast in Russia with 5175 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 70 km as the crow flies southeast of the Kemerovo Oblast Administrative Center on the northeastern edge of the Kuznetsk Basin (Kuzbass), not far from the high left bank of the Tom River .

Zelenogorski belongs to the Krapivinsky district and is located about 10 km east of its administrative center, the urban-type Krapivinsky settlement . It is the seat and the only locality of the municipality Zelenogorskoje gorodskoje posselenije.

history

The place was created in 1975 in connection with the start of construction of a dam on the Tom almost five kilometers east (upstream), with the planned hydroelectric power station Krapivinskaja GES. For a short time the name Pionerny (from Russian pioner for " pioneer ") was in use, before the current place name became official in November 1976, for example "Grünberg (settlement)". In 1977 the town, which is characterized by prefabricated buildings , was given the status of an urban-type settlement.

With the decision of the oblast administration of August 1989, the further construction of the dam was initially interrupted primarily for ecological reasons, then in 1991 all work on the property was stopped. At this point they were relatively advanced. To this day (as of 2018) a resumption of construction is always in discussion.
