Ossinniki ( Russian Осинники ) is a city in the Kemerovo Oblast ( Russia ) with 46,001 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

Ossinniki is located in the southern part of the Kuzbass , about 25 km southeast of Novokuznetsk . The city extends in the valley of the small Kandalep river to its confluence with the Kondoma , a left tributary of the Tom . The climate is continental.

The city of Ossinniki is directly subordinate to the Oblast administratively. The city is subordinate to five villages with a total of 15,885 inhabitants, so that the total population of the administrative unit "Ossinniki City District" is 62,810 (2009 calculation).

Osinniki is located on the railway (Station Kandalep, Кандалеп) and the road Novokuznetsk - Tashtagol .

history

Ossinniki was created in 1926 as a place of the Shoric settlement Ossinowka (from Russian осина / ossina for aspen ) in connection with the construction of a coal mine . In 1938 the place received its current name and town charter.

Culture, education and sights

Osinniki has a local museum mainly dedicated to the natural history and paleontology of the area.

economy

The main branch of industry is coal mining with the Alarda (Аларда) and Kapitalnaja (Капитальная) pits. Not far from Ossinniki in Kaltan is the South Kuzbass Thermal Power Plant ( Южно-Кузбасская ГРЭС / Yuzhno-Kuzbasskaya GRES). A tram has been running in Ossinniki since 1960 .
