Senohrad (until 1927 Slovak "Senohrady"; Hungarian Szénavár - to 1892 Szenograd ) is a municipality and a town in central Slovakia , with a population of 754 (December 31, 2019) and is located in Okres Krupina , a circle of kraj Banskobystrický . The name of the place literally means "Heuburg".
geography
Senohrad is located in the Krupinská planina highlands in the south-facing valley of the Litava brook , at an altitude of 592 m nm and is right next to the Lešť military area . The center of the village is 15 kilometers from Krupina and 31 kilometers from Zvolen .
According to the regional affiliation Senohrad belongs to the Hont region .
history
There are finds from the Roman era (2nd / 3rd century) in the municipality.
The place was first mentioned in 1135 as Zenerag , then in 1262 as Senograd . In 1779 a devastating fire broke out in the village, devastating the entire village. The population engaged in agriculture, sheep and cattle breeding, and there were also some blacksmiths.
