Shoot the Girl First is a Christian trancecore / deathcore band from Antibes near the French city ​​of Nice , Côte d'Azur .

history

Foundation and first EP

Shoot the Girl First was created in Nice in September 2010. The group consisted of the musicians Nathan Mc Cloud ( vocals ), Félon Von B ( guitar ), Will (guitar, backing vocals ), Crystal ( keyboard ), Mathieu Kesselair ( electric bass ), Orel ( synthesizer ) and Jesus Super Star ( drums ). The band name came from a quote from the film Dobermann, which was temporarily indexed in Germany . In 2010 the first demo, which contains five tracks and was named after the band, was produced and published. The group has already played at their local shows in southern France (including Lyon , Cannes and Colmar ) as the opener for Post Offense , Can't Bear This Party , Until the Uprising , In Other Climes , We Butter the Bread with Butter , Vera Cruz and Fallaster .

On November 19, 2011, the debut EP They Have Clocks, We Have Time , was released, which was produced and published in-house. The first music video was also produced. This music video for the song Last Breath For A Capulet received over 140,000 views on YouTube in the first two months . On January 29, 2012, the group released the second music video. The song is called Eternal Sunshine . On May 18, 2012 the group played in Lublin with Helia and Eskimo Callboy . The day before the group performed in Graz , Austria . In May 2012 a concert followed in the Polish capital Warsaw . In early June the group played with Dagoba in Nice . On June 22, 2012, Shoot the Girl First was the opener for Emmure and Winds of Plague in Lyon . A day later, Shoot the Girl First performed with Emmure and Winds of Plague in Paris .

In 2012 keyboard player Crystal was nominated for the "Miss Metal France Award". In August 2012 the group played a "summer tour". Originally the deathcore band Until the Uprising was supposed to go on tour as support, but the group split up before that. This tour was called "They Have Clocks, We Have Time Summer Euro Tour" and led through France, Germany, Poland, Austria and the Czech Republic. After the tour, the recordings on the debut album should begin. The release date was set for the end of 2012. It should be called Follow the Clouds . The group played another European tour in October and November. This led through Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland.

Record deal and debut album Follow the Clouds

In February 2013, the US concert agency The Artery Foundation announced that it had signed Shoot the Girl First. The group also signed with Avocado Booking, who also organized concert tours for Memphis May Fire , We Came as Romans and Parkway Drive . The group played in June 2013 at the Mair1 Festival in Montabaur . In April 2013 it was announced that Artery Recordings had signed the group. The debut album Follow the Clouds should be released in June 2013. In June 2013 the group played in Lyon with Senses Fail and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! . In May 2013 the album was fully streamed on Revolver . In October and November 2013, the group was seen supporting We Butter the Bread with Butter on their European tour. In October the shows took place in Germany and Switzerland . Devil Sold His Soul and Yashin also played as additional support acts at these concerts . In November Shoot the Girl First was the sole opening act for We Butter the Bread with Butter. The shows were held in Italy, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Sweden, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark and Slovakia.

In 2014, singer Nathan McCloud left the band, so that the group was now without a frontman. The new singer was determined through a contest. However, this was not announced for a long time. The band toured Europe in November and December 2014 with Novelists as the opening act for I, the Breather . In the meantime it has been announced that Alex Sayti is the new lead singer of the band.

Label change and second album I Confess

On October 2, 2015, a track from the second album, 9th Symphony , was released, which was released in 2016. As early as December 26, 2014 it was announced that the group was working on new material. On the same day, Call Me V, a first new piece, was released, which was also the last collaboration with her former singer Nathan McCloud.

On January 30, 2016, it was announced that the band had come to Redfield Records . The second album, called I Confess , was released on April 1, 2016 via the label .

There has been no sign of life from the band since April 2018.

style

The group's musical style is influenced by bands like Asking Alexandria , The Devil Wears Prada , Fail Emotions , Jamie's Elsewhere , Parkway Drive , Attack Attack! , Miss May I and Bring Me the Horizon .

In the texts of the group, the musicians process their emotions , describe personal experiences and the perception of the environment. The musicians are all of Christian conviction, which is reflected in some of the lyrics. The texts are mostly in English , but occasionally also in French .
