Singelloop Utrecht

The Singelloop Utrecht is a people and road run over 10 km in Utrecht . It was held for the first time in 1925 and took place for the 60th time in 2010. This makes it the oldest road race in the Netherlands . The organizer is the Athletic Sports Exhibition Company (ASEC).

route

The start and finish are near the Maliesingel and Lepelenburg parks. From there it goes clockwise around the city center of Utrecht along the city canals ("singels") and through Wilhelminapark.

history

The most successful athlete of the early years was Jan Zeegers , who won four times. Only Klaas Lok could triumph more often with five wins. In 2010 Leonard Patrick Komon set a world record in the 10 km road race with 26:44 min .
