Vidovdan run
The Vidovdan Run ( Serbian Vidovdanska trka, English Vidovdan Road Race ) is a people and road race over 10 km that has been taking place since 1997 on Vidovdan (June 28th) in Brčko . Under the direction of Borislav Đurđević, what was initially a regional sporting event became the most important athletics event in Bosnia and Herzegovina , which is broadcast live on television nationwide. The event also includes children's and youth runs over distances of 100 to 1000 m with a total of 5000 participants.
history
The race has been part of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since 2005 . The following year, the tenth anniversary was honored with a stamp from the Republika Srpska . In 2009 the race was awarded the IAAF Road Race Label .
Two current national records were set at the Vidovdan run: In 2008 Mirko Petrović achieved a Serbian record in third overall with 28:55 minutes and Lucia Kimani in second overall with 33:13 minutes, a Bosnian record.
route
Until 2009, the race was held on a 920.28 m long lap around the city park, which had to be mastered eleven times in the main run. In 2010 a course was introduced consisting of a turning point route on the Bulevar Mira, a loop around the city park and a loop through the southern part of the city.
