chronology
- Slash Apocalyptic Love
(2012)

Slash is the first solo album by British-American guitarist Slash , lead guitarist for the Guns N 'Roses bands . It was released on March 31, 2010 in Europe on Roadrunner Records . Numerous musicians from metal , rock and pop made guest contributions. Eric Valentine took care of the production.

Emergence

In his autobiography , published at the end of 2007, Slash reported on a project called Slash & Friends , which he intends to realize with some guest musicians. The addition to the name was later deleted. In late 2008, Slash's wife Perla said in an interview that the planned album would include contributions from Ozzy Osbourne and Fergie . Initially, Mark Ronson was planned as a producer, but he had no time. Slash chose him as a producer based on the sound of Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age and The All-American Rejects , both of which Eric Valentine had produced. Josh Freese dropped out of the Nine Inch Nails tour shortly before the recordings , otherwise he would not have been able to record the record.

"I owe the ease with which my album came about to Eric, Josh and Chris, who were even able to do something with my demos , which are mostly utter rubbish."

- Slash

The demo recordings were made in a garage of a friend. As a guest musician, Slash chose both those he “grew up with” and young artists he liked. He had played the song Paradise City with Cypress Hill for ten years . He had brought Fergie on stage before, she had also sung Sweet Child o 'Mine once . Slash said she had "a rock 'n' roll background". Even David Bowie was asked, but did not participate. White Stripes singer Jack White canceled because, according to Slash, he did not want to sing on musically "unfamiliar terrain". Each guest singer wrote their own lyrics. Myles Kennedy was confirmed as singer for the tour .

In Rock Hard , Andreas Himmelstein called the album "just as varied as one could expect from the long and illustrious guests and the different guest singers". The album develops “a high-class compilation atmosphere” through which Slash's guitar work is a “common thread”. He awarded nine out of ten points.
