The annular solar eclipse of July 27, 2093 is the first central eclipse in Northern Germany after the solar eclipse of April 17, 1912 . It mostly takes place over North America , the Caribbean , Europe , North Africa and West Asia , the Arctic and the North Atlantic . The maximum of the eclipse is in the North Sea about 100 km east of Great Britain ; the duration of the annular shape there is 5 minutes and 11 seconds.

This eclipse is one of a series of eight central eclipses in the German-speaking area within only 76 years (2075–2151).

course

The zone of annularity begins in the US state of Illinois and extends approximately parallel to the border between the USA and Canada in a northwest direction. The cities of Indianapolis , Cleveland , Detroit on the US side and Toronto and Montreal on the Canadian side are in this zone.

On the European side of the Atlantic , the zone of annularity grazes the north of Ireland and Northern Ireland and crosses Great Britain with the city of Glasgow . The zone then reaches the Netherlands and northern Germany .

Can be estimated as the development of earth rotation only on the basis of models, are significant differences in the assumed value delta T . NASA sees the value at 187.9 s, while Calsky assumes a value of 79.0 s. The difference of 108.9 s leads to a change in position of about 40 km in east-west direction of the central zone. In relation to the edge of the eclipse, however, this kilometer difference is reduced to around 15 km. The contact times vary accordingly, due to the change in the distance to the central line, the times of the annular shape change significantly.

Nevertheless, the NASA calculation with both Delta-T values see the following larger cities within the ring-shaped zone: Hamburg , Bremen , Hanover , Braunschweig , Magdeburg , Leipzig and Dresden and Berlin . While NASA sees Göttingen only partially in the central zone, according to Calsky this will be completely within. The zone then runs parallel to the Polish - Czech border in a south-east direction across Slovakia , Hungary , Ukraine , Romania , Moldova to the Black Sea . The Turkey of Iran and Afghanistan and Pakistan are also in the annular zone. The darkness ends at the Pakistani- Indian border with sunset.

Visibility in German-speaking countries

Outside the ring-shaped zone, the eclipse in the German-speaking area is visible throughout the course as a deep partial solar eclipse. The lowest eclipse is achieved in the southwest in Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais with 73% coverage.

Remarks

  1. The eight eclipses between 2075 and 2151 are: The annular solar eclipse of July 13, 2075 , the total solar eclipse of September 3, 2081 , the annular solar eclipse of February 27, 2082 , the annular solar eclipse of July 23, 2093, the total solar eclipse of October 7, 2135 , the total solar eclipse of May 25, 2142 , the annular solar eclipse of March 12, 2146, and the total solar eclipse of June 14, 2151 . The solar eclipse of September 23, 2090 ends just outside the German-speaking area and therefore does not count.
