European Squash Team Championship 2019

The European Team Championships for men and women in 2019 ( English 2019 European Team Squash Championships ) found from 1 to 4 May 2019 in Birmingham in the UK , and from 3 to 6 April 2019 in Lisbon , Portugal , instead. A total of 37 teams competed in the men and 28 teams in the women. For the men it was the 47th edition of the championship, for the women it was the 42nd edition. The teams divided into Division 3 played their tournament in Lisbon at the beginning of April, while Divisions 1 and 2 played their games in Birmingham from the beginning of May.

mode

The participating teams played in three different divisions according to their placement at the previous European Championship. In Division 1, the eight best teams competed for men and women and played for the European title. First, the teams were divided into two groups and played their games in round robin mode . The two best teams made it to the semi-finals, the rest had to go to relegation. In the second-rate Division 2, a total of twelve teams competed in four groups. The group first and second met in a knockout round and determined the two promoted teams in Division 1. The two weakest teams in Division 1 were relegated in return, the women the promotion and relegation mode was equivalent. The women's division 2 consisted of eight teams this year, which also initially determined the group winners in a group stage. In Division 3, a total of 17 men competed in three groups of four and one group of five. The group first and second continued to play in a knockout system. For the women, twelve teams competed in four groups of three. Here, too, the first and second group played in a knockout system. At the tournament all places were played out.

All teams consisted of a minimum of three and a maximum of six players who had to be reported in the order of their skill level. Three individual games were played per match for the women and four for the men. The order in which the individual games played was independent of the order in which the players entered.
