State Police (United States)
State Police is the name of one or more law enforcement agencies of a state in the United States of America . Their responsibilities vary from state to state. To the task of a "State Police" usually counts the traffic control on highways , so the state police in individual states "Highway Patrol" ( " Highway Patrol is called"). Other tasks of the authority can be the training of police officers, the support of local police authorities and the protection of the regional parliament building and governor . The state police act as an intermediary between the local police authorities in the cities and districts and the federal authorities. It exists in all US states with the exception of the island chain of Hawaii , where the four district police authorities take over their tasks.
