Steven Skrzybski [ ˈstiːvən ˈskʁɨbski ] (born November 18, 1992 in Berlin ) is a German football player . He is under contract with FC Schalke 04 .

Career

Skrzybski started his career at SG Stern Kaulsdorf in Berlin. In January 2001 he joined 1. FC Union Berlin and worked through the entire youth department. He made his debut in the first team in the 2nd Bundesliga on November 13, 2010 (12th matchday) under coach Uwe Neuhaus as a substitute against FSV Frankfurt . For four seasons he commuted between first and second team at Union. Under coach Norbert Düwel , who trained Union between July 2014 and August 2015, he became an integral part of the second division squad. He scored 29 goals in 136 second division games, 14 of them in the 2017/18 season , placing him in second place in the Bundesliga 2 scorers' list.

For the 2018/19 season Skrzybski switched to the Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04 . He signed a contract until June 30, 2021. In the Bundesliga match against 1. FC Nürnberg (5-2), he scored his first two goals in the 1. Bundesliga on November 24, 2018. In the Champions League season 2018/19 he failed with Schalke in the round of 16 at Manchester City .

After just one game in the cup and four appearances for the regional league team , the striker was loaned to Fortuna Düsseldorf in January 2020 until the end of the 2019/20 season. The loan agreement also included a purchase option that was not drawn. There he came to 11 out of 17 possible games in the Bundesliga. At the end of the 2019/20 season, the loan contract expired and Skrzybski returned to FC Schalke 04.
