Stubbe and the Strange Girl is a German television film by Thomas Jacob from 1998. It is the twelfth film in the ZDF crime film series Stubbe - Von Fall zu Fall with Wolfgang Stumph in the title role.

action

Wilfried Stubbe and his colleague Zimmermann have to solve the death of the leader of a youth gang. Before that, the gang beat up a young girl named Kim, Stubbe's daughter Christiane unwittingly witnessed the incident and offers the girl shelter with her family. Stubbe investigates the dead person's surroundings, but comes across a wall of silence. Everyone is afraid of the gang that is now re-forming after the death of their leader. When the victim's girlfriend was attacked by a stranger shortly after the murder, a suspicion falls on Felix Klein, whose brother had killed himself some time ago because of the tribulations of the gang. When questioned, however, Stubbe got the impression that Felix would not be capable of such an act. He again accuses Kim of having trouble with the gang for some time, even though she is actually one of them. Stubbe asks teacher Wolter, who knows the young people well and is familiar with their position in the gang. Like everyone else, he admits to being afraid of young people.

During the investigation, the suspicion that Kim has something to do with the death of Rico is confirmed. Christiane is also sure that her new friend has secrets from her. Still, she tries to help her. However, she cannot pay for their debts with the gang either. Somebody had stolen the drugs she was supposed to sell and now the gang is demanding their money. Christiane can get Kim to contact her mother again, because she had been living on the street for the last few weeks. In order to help her daughter, she is even willing to pay off her debts. However, she can first raise a deposit, so that the gang is not completely satisfied and Kim has to fear further harassment.

Stubbe, who often does research at school to find clues about Rico's murderer, considers the teacher Wolter to be an urgent suspect. His remarks about the criminal youth have betrayed him and so Stubbe finds further evidence that speaks for Wolter as the perpetrator. When he realizes that the police are on him, he takes a schoolgirl hostage and flees. Stubbe follows him and tries to get him to give up. Horrified by his own actions, Wolter is arrested.

Kim, who still has no peace in front of the gang, wants to put an end to it all by jumping from the skyscraper, like Felix's brother at the time. Christiane follows her and alerts her father. Together they talk to the girl, but they can't prevent Kim from jumping to her death anyway.
