Sybille Hein
Sybille Hein (born September 2, 1970 in Wolfenbüttel , Lower Saxony ) is a German children's book author, cabaret artist , illustrator and designer .
Biography / work
Sybille Hein first studied German and philosophy at the University of Göttingen and then illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences .
In 1999 she founded the Atelier Gute Grund in Berlin with other illustrators (including Aljoscha Blau , Rinah Lang, Marion Goedelt) . Initially, Sybille Hein worked mainly as an illustrator for various German-language publishers and illustrated numerous books a. a. for well-known authors like Cornelia Funke or Amelie Fried .
With Rutti Berg, the farmer's wife, she would so much like to be queen , her first picture book with her own text was published by Bajazzo Verlag in 2004 . In 2006 she illustrated the first children's edition of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit . Since then, writing your own stories has become more and more important for Sybille Hein.
In 2008 her adventure musical Princess Knöpfchen was published by Carlsen-Verlag . In autumn 2010, the second volume of this story followed with Princess Knöpfchen and Prince Schleimi . The music was composed in each case by Falk Effenberger, who appeared together with Sybille Hein from 2000 to 2006 as Sybille & der kleine Wahnsinnige on German cabaret stages. Edda Schnittgard (formerly Queen Bee ) directed several of her programs . Between 2004 and 2009 they won numerous prizes, such as the Stuttgart broom , the Reinheimer Satirelöwen, the Leipzig Cabinet Prize , the Austrian Children's Book Prize and the Rostock cabaret prize Der Rostocker Koggenzieher .
The stories and illustrations by Sybille Hein are often a bit crazy, with absurd wit and bizarre characters. With her stories she is aimed equally at children and adults. “In terms of content, it's always about the old themes anyway, in cabaret, in children's books, probably everywhere: search for meaning, loneliness, love, happiness, fear and so on,” says Sybille Hein.
