The phosphates, arsenates, and vanadates in the Dana classification of minerals include class VII of this classification.
According to the new Dana classification, the phosphates class consists of subclasses 37 (anhydrous acid phosphates), 38 (anhydrous phosphates), 39 (hydrated acidic phosphates), 40 (hydrated phosphates), 41 (anhydrous phosphates with hydroxyl or halogen) , 42 (hydrated phosphates with hydroxyl or halogen) and 43 (phosphates). The antimonates are divided into subclasses 44 (antimonates), 45 (acidic and normal antimonites, arsenites and phosphites) and 46 (basic or halogen-containing antimonites, arsenites and phosphites). Subclass 47 contains the vanadates. Finally, the molybdates and chromates consist of sub-classes 48 (molybdates and tungstates) and 49 (simple and hydrated molybdates and tungstates).
