Franziska is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The broadcast produced by WDR was first broadcast on January 5, 2014 in the ARD's first program. For reasons of youth protection, the broadcast of the episode was only started after 10 p.m. - after the regular broadcast of the HR crime scene Der Eskimo at 8:15 p.m.
The premiere was on September 29, 2013 at the Cologne Conference . The actress Tessa Mittelstaedt in the eponymous role as Franziska Lüttgenjohann, in which she had previously appeared for 14 years as an assistant to the two inspectors Ballauf and Schenk , got out of the crime series with this episode.
action
After ten years in prison, Daniel Kehl is shortly before his release under suspicion of having murdered his cell neighbor Sergej Rowitsch. In a conference room, he takes Franziska Lüttgenjohann hostage, who, in addition to her work on the homicide squad, is also a volunteer probation officer . He threatens her with a knife and uses a cable tie to tie off her neck and thereby bring her under his control.
Kehl, convicted of murder and rape, fears he will be held responsible for the murder and ostensibly wants to force his release. He allegedly has inside information about corruption within the prison guards, which he only wants to pass on to prosecutor Prinz in the event of his release. The inspectors Ballauf and Schenk investigate the murder of the dead fellow inmate in order to free Kehl from the allegation of murder and thereby persuade him to give up. At the same time, the deployment of the special task force begins: snipers position themselves, intervention forces secure the door, the room is monitored by microphone, and various scenarios are played out in the operations management. Meanwhile, Franziska Kehl makes his hopeless situation clear and wants to persuade him to negotiate, which he does not enter into. Instead, a conversation develops about trust, control, and submission.
Ultimately, however, it turns out that Kehl actually murdered Sergei Rowitsch and that his real goal was not his release: Since he could foresee that it would not be long before further murders that he had committed would be discovered, and therefore he would not Seeing more chance of an early release from prison, he used the last chance he had to subjugate a woman and possibly rape. The commissioners recognize his intentions, but can no longer prevent Kehl from jerking the noose around Franziska's neck while storming through the SEK and killing her before he himself is shot.
reception
Reviews
“The thriller was postponed several times; Without having been shown in front of a larger audience, it achieved a certain legendary status - which now suits its effect: The principle of fearful delay, the savoring of the cruel moment is artfully taken to extremes in Mittelstaedt's farewell performance. "
“The setting whitewashes dramaturgical weaknesses. […] But in the end it is the courage of director Dror Zahavi that remains remarkable: the break with tradition. Ironically, a WDR crime scene is not stranded in favor. In Cologne of all places the sausage stand is closed. "
Audience ratings
The first broadcast of Franziska on January 5, 2014 was seen by a total of 7.32 million viewers in Germany and, as the winner of the day, achieved a market share of 27.0% for Das Erste ; In the group of 14- to 49-year-old viewers , 2.43 million viewers and a market share of 21.3% were achieved.
