from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tourism in Saxony-Anhalt focused mainly on cultural events, including five UNESCO World Heritage Sites .

Saxony-Anhalt is the home of Martin Luther and the land of old half-timbered towns , Romanesque castles , churches , palaces and monasteries , which testify to the important role the region played in the Middle Ages . In addition, there are charming small, densely built-up villages with typical half-timbered architecture and village churches that are closed to the street, which are embedded in a natural, diverse landscape that ranges from flatlands to heaths and low mountain ranges to wine-growing areas. Saxony-Anhalt is the area with the highest density of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Germany : the Bauhaus in Dessau , the Luther cities of Wittenberg and Eisleben , the Wörlitz Castle Park , the old town of Quedlinburg and the Naumburg Cathedral .
