Trond Arne Bredesen (born February 4, 1967 in Gran ) is a former Norwegian Nordic combined skier .

Career

Bredesen made his international debut at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1984 and won silver in the team competition. A year later at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1985 , he repeated this title with the team. A further increase succeeded the team a further improvement, so that the team could win the title at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 1986 in Lake Placid .

On March 22, 1986 Bredesen made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup . In Štrbské Pleso he achieved a result in the points as sixth. He also started successfully in the 1986/87 season as eighth in Canmore . In January 1987, when he was fourth in Schonach in the Black Forest, he just missed his first podium. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1987 in Asiago , Bredesen again secured the silver medal in individual and team competitions.

A week after the two medals in Asiago, Bredesen started at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , where he also won the silver medal in both the individual and team competitions. At the last World Cup of the season, he reached the podium for the first time in Oslo and finished second. In January 1988 Bredesen celebrated his first World Cup victory in Le Brassus .

At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary he just missed a medal in the team competition together with Hallstein Bøgseth and Torbjørn Løkken in fourth. In the individual competition he finished 11th. The World Cup season he finished after two further fifth places in Oslo and Rovaniemi in fifth place in the overall World Cup standings.

Bredesen started his most successful season in 1988/89 with a victory in the singles in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer . He was also at the top of the podium in Reit im Winkl . At the following Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 , he won the bronze medal in the individual before he was able to secure the world title in the team competition together with the brothers Trond Einar and Bård Jørgen Elden . At the three World Cups until the end of the season, Bredesen was able to celebrate another victory in Lake Placid . He also reached second place in Oslo and third place in Thunder Bay . He ended the season in first place in the overall standings.

In the following two seasons Bredesen could not build on this success. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , he missed a medal for the first time with the team in fifth place. After the end of the season, he ended his active career.

At the Norwegian Championship in Gjøvik in 1990 Bredesen secured his first and only national title.
