The Duissern underground station is a tunnel station of the Duisburg light rail network in the center of Duissern in the independent city of Duisburg . The underground station is operated by the Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG) within the VRR . It is the northernmost underground station south of the port facilities and has a sweeping system.
history
The Duissern underground station was opened in 1992 as the construction of the Duisburg inner city tunnel was completed. Duissern was the northernmost station of this tunnel system, immediately to the northeast there was a ramp on which the tracks led out of the tunnel to the surface, on which line 903 continued via Meidericher and Emmericher Strasse to Meiderich.
From 1992 to 2000 the tunnel was built to Meiderich Bahnhof . After its completion, the travel time between Duissern underground station and the Meiderich district could be shortened to 7 minutes, Meiderich was better developed through the neighboring Auf dem Damm underground station, which was then newly built there, and the old route via the Emmericher Strasse with the bridge over the Rhine-Herne Canal will be abandoned.
Location and structure
The subway station has a central platform that can be reached via escalators and elevators . In addition, the underground station has a DFI system . To the north of the platform there is a double-track sweeping system where the U79 light rail line temporarily ends.
