UGC 8548 = Arp 36 is a bar spiral galaxy in the constellation Dragon. It is an estimated 226 million light years from the Milky Way .

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with the shape of an integral sign (Arp catalog) .
