Farnstädt is a municipality in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt ( Germany ) and belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Weida-Land , which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Nemsdorf-Göhrendorf .

Farnstädt is between Halle (Saale) and Erfurt an der Weitzschker . The municipality includes the districts of Oberfarnstädt, Unterfarnstädt and Bergfarnstädt as well as Alberstedt , which was incorporated on January 1, 2010 .

Neighboring communities are Lutherstadt Eisleben and the lake area Mansfelder Land (both MSH ) in the north, Schraplau in the east, Obhausen in the south and Querfurt in the southwest.

Wasserburg Oberfarnstädt

In a register of the tithe of the Hersfeld monastery , which was created between 881 and 899, Farnstädt is mentioned for the first time in a document as the place where Farnistat im Friesenfeld has to be titled . Here was a Palatinate with the royal court of Farnstädt . Farnstädt is a very old settlement. It is likely that the settlement and establishment of a place took place long before it was first mentioned in writing. It is believed that Farnstädt already existed in the time of the Thuringian Empire, i.e. before the battle of Burgscheidungen on the Unstrut in 531.

Until 1815 the place was in the Saxon office of Querfurt .

The honorary mayor Frank Mylich was elected on May 6, 2007. He was re-elected in February 2014.

Economy and Infrastructure

The place is characterized by production and service companies of the medium-sized industry and various commercial establishments. In addition to the “Schielschke” commercial area, Farnstädt also has the spacious, purely residential area “In der Drum” as well as private construction areas. There is a primary school and daycare center in the village.

The federal road 180 from Hettstedt to Naumburg (Saale) runs directly through the municipality . The Eisleben junction of federal motorway 38 is in the immediate vicinity of the community. The closest train stations, from which public transport buses regularly run to Farnstädt, are Röblingen am See and Lutherstadt Eisleben on the Halle – Hann railway line. Münden .

Clubs have a long tradition, such as the SV “Blau Weiß” in 1921 or the Farnstädter Carnival Society. The associations of anglers, allotment gardeners and small animal breeders have also existed for decades. After the reunification, other associations emerged, such as the Heimat- und Kulturverein, the trade association and the association for the promotion of the volunteer fire brigade. The Farnstädt Riding Club has existed since 2004. Organized fire extinguishing was already in place over 260 years ago by the court and church patron Anton von Geusau .
