history
After the conquest of Kosovo by the Kingdom of Serbia during the First Balkan War in 1912, the Serbian government set up a local military administration . A separate municipality Vrbnica was created, which also included the villages Shkoza and Dobrushta . The community belonged to the Srez Šar of the superior Okrug Prizren . This administrative division existed until January 6, 1929, when the area became part of the newly created Vardarska banovina within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia .

The 2011 census found that Vërmica was home to 661 people. Of them, 658 (99.55%) were Albanians . 658 also declared themselves Muslims . For the remaining three people there is no answer regarding their ethnic or religious affiliation.

economy
Vërmica has become a transit station and rest stop for travelers thanks to the newly built motorway. With the mountains all around and Lake Fierza, the place has potential as a tourist destination. Boat tours are now offered, among other things, and several restaurants have been built on the lake shore. Representatives of Vërmicas demanded in 2015 that the Drintal or the Fierza Lake be declared a protected area, either as a national park or as a "tourist zone".
