Verena Schweers (* May 22, 1989 in Ettenheim as Verena Faißt ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
societies
Verena Schweers began her career in 2000 in the soccer department of SC Kappel in Kappel-Grafenhausen . In the winter break of 2003/04, she switched to the juniors of SC Freiburg , in 2005 occasionally trained with the Bundesliga team and was used a few times in the second team. She played regularly in the B youth team from 2004 to 2006. In 2006 she moved up to the Bundesliga squad and played the following four seasons for SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga .
After their team was relegated from the Bundesliga in 2010 , Schweers moved to VfL Wolfsburg for the 2010/11 season . In the 2012/13 season she was with the team German champion, cup winner and winner of the Champions League. In 2014 she won the championship, the Champions League again with VfL Wolfsburg and in 2015 the cup again.
For the 2016/17 season , Schweers signed FC Bayern Munich , which provided her with a contract that ran until June 30, 2018. She made her competitive debut on September 3, 2016 (1st matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the home game against SC Freiburg . After four years, she left FC Bayern in June 2020.
On July 31, 2020, she announced her retirement.
National teams
Verena Schweers went through the U-15 to U-18 selections of the South Baden Football Association . Since September 2006 she has been playing in the U-19 national team . She was part of the squad of the U-20 national team that took part in the 2008 World Cup in Chile and reached third place.
On October 28, 2010, she made her debut in the senior national team , which won 2-1 in Wolfsburg against the Australian selection . At the 2011 World Cup in Germany, she was part of the team , but was not used.
She had to cancel participation in the 2013 European Championships due to a Pfeiffer's glandular fever . For the 2019 World Cup , she was appointed to the German team by the new national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg . She had two appearances in the group matches and one in the round of 16.
Personal
On July 7, 2018, she married Christian Schweers, the Sales Manager Sponsoring of FC Bayern Munich , in the St. Laurentius Church in Rottach-Egern .
