Wöbring (formerly: Wöbering ) is a village in the Carinthian market town of Metnitz with 63 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The village lies entirely in the territory of the Metnitz Land cadastral community .

location

The village is located in the Wöbringbachtal, a left side valley of the Metnitz Valley in the Metnitz Mountains , which is accessed by the L62a state road.

history

The place is mentioned in a cucumber land register of the 15th century as in the Webran ; this name is derived from the Slovenian personal name Bebran. In the area of ​​the Metnitz-Land tax municipality, the place belonged to the Grades tax district in the first half of the 19th century . When the political communities were founded in the course of the reforms after the 1848/49 revolution, Wöbring came to the Metnitz community and thus to the Sankt Veit an der Glan district .
