The WPBSA Per Ticket Series 89/90 1988 - Event 1 was a qualifying tournament for the Snooker - 1989/90 season . It was played from May 14th to 21st at Warners in the English puck pool . The winner was the Irishman Stephen Murphy , who defeated the Thai James Wattana 5-3 in the final. Murphy qualified for the Main Tour, his opponent was able to secure a place on the Main Tour by winning the following event.
