Wadena is a small town (with the status " City ") and the administrative seat of Wadena County in the US -amerikanischen State Minnesota . Part of the urban area extends into the neighboring Otter Tail County to the east . In 2010 Wadena had 4088 inhabitants.

history
The Wadena Township was founded in 1871, just like the city it is today. Both the township and the settlement were named after the county, which was named after the former Wadena trading post . In 1873 a post office was set up in Wadena. As an independent municipality, Wadena was incorporated in 1881 and separated from the township in 1921.
In 2010 a severe tornado hit Wadena. 232 buildings were destroyed without any fatalities.
