Weitergeh'n is an album by the German rock group Karat from 2010. It is the band's first album with the singer Claudius Dreilich and was released on the occasion of the band's 35th anniversary.

content

After seven years, Karat released the first studio album since Licht und Schatten , which was released in 2003, with Weitergeh'n . The creative break resulted from the upheavals in the band between 2003 and 2007: In 2003 the longtime singer Herbert Dreilich fell ill with cancer and died at the end of 2004. A year later, Dreilich's widow initiated a legal dispute over the name Karat , so that the group used the ancestral name of Couldn't use early 2006 to mid-2007 and instead acted as K ...! traded. In songs like For you , standing back on or Weitergeh'n these same developments and their coping were discussed.

Overall, calm, ballad-like titles such as Verloren , Nie zu weit , Für mich , Berlin or Kleine Nachtmusik predominate . A few rock accents were set with the titles Steh auf und Vorbei . With Just like you , Welcome to the Club and Die Reise , Karat presented itself in a new sonic robe, stylistically approaching swing, blues and psychedelic elements. The same applies to the title song, which - rather unusual for Karat - is designed as a funk pop number suitable for the masses.

The two bonus tracks were released on a maxi single in 2006; Melancholie was the first new song in the line-up with Claudius Dreilich. The second bonus track The Last Countdown was taken on the album as a dedication by the composer Franz Bartzsch , who died in 2010 and who wrote it.

The titles Nie zu weit (2007, in an alternative version), Weitergeh'n (March 2010), Berlin (October 2010) and So wie Du (July 2012) were released as singles. All singles were only released as radio promos.

As a guest musician, Gisbert Piatkowski played guitar and producer André Kuntze played keyboard.
