The gift hour is the tenth album by the German rock group Karat from 1995. Martin Becker premiered on the album as a keyboard player for Karat.

content

On the occasion of the band's twentieth anniversary, after changing the label from “Extra Records and Tapes” to “K&P Music” (the record company owned by Toni Krahl and Fritz Puppel from Group City , a sub-label of BMG ) , Karat brought the gift hour as one Art comeback album hit the market. For the first time, after the departure of the successful composer Ulrich "Ed" Swillms in 1987 and the rather untypical albums for the band ... in the next peace in 1990 and Karat 91 in 1991, the characteristic style of Karat, which can best be assigned to prog rock , was recognizable . With titles like High Up , Under the Wind or Like the Stars Fall , Karat succeeded again in producing song-like rock music with lyrical emphasis. The group used other titles to refer to current issues. In Lucifer , for example, right-wing extremism or The Eighth Day of War, environmental destruction and the fun society are thematically addressed and critically questioned. The album was a new beginning after the so-called Wendekrise, in which East German artists received little attention. In 1995, the year it was published, 30,000 copies of the album were sold.

Gisbert Piatkowski , Matthias Lauschus, Moritz Schubert, Thomas Wendel, Tom Cunningham, Achim Götz, Ralf Vornberger and Sieghart Schubert were guests . The producer was Ralf Bostelmann-Böhme .

In 1994 the titles Ganz oben , The gift hour and an additional alternative version of Ganz oben and 1995 Unter dem Wind , Jedermann and Der eightchte Tag were released as singles.
