Benjamin Barry works for a New York advertising agency. He bets his boss and his colleagues that he can get journalist Andie Anderson to fall in love with him within ten days. If he succeeds, he will be charged with organizing the advertising campaign for a diamond trading company.
Andie Anderson is researching for an article about the tricks a woman can use to end a relationship. She uses these tricks on Barry. Among other things, she prevents him from watching a basketball game that was very important to him, "decorates" his apartment on the first visit, when the two get intimate, she calls his penis Princess Sophia and appears unannounced at his men's poker evening. After an argument, he suggests couples therapy to Andie to buy time. Andie leads him to meet her friend Michelle Rubin, who plays a relationship therapist. James Berardinelli criticized on ReelViews that the film lacks a love story between the “cheap laughs”. In places it looks like the comedy The War of the Roses , but doesn't have the "courage" of Danny DeVito's film because the director wants the audience to like both of the main characters. Kate Hudson played "very well", but with a "shockingly limited range" of means of expression. Matthew McConaughey looks so good that you don't want to question his acting skills.
