Root Jesse window in Le Faouët

The Root Jesse window in the Catholic Chapel of St-Fiacre in Le Faouët , a French commune in the Morbihan department in Brittany , was created in the last quarter of the 16th century. The leaded glass window was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1862 as Monument historique .

The window in the choir was created by an unknown workshop. It shows the root of Jesse , a widespread pictorial motif in Christian art of the Middle Ages and early modern times. The family tree of Christ is represented in the form of a tree that grows out of the figure of Jesse . A crucifixion group concludes . The Twelve Apostles are depicted to the right and left .

In addition to the Wurzel-Jesse window , four other windows from the Renaissance period have been preserved in the church (see navigation bar).
