Zaue ( Lower Sorbian Cowje ) is an inhabited part of the municipality of Ressen-Zaue , a district of the municipality of Schwielochsee in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg .

location

Zaue is located in Lower Lusatia about 15 kilometers northwest of the city of Lieberose and about 27 kilometers northeast of Lübben . Surrounding villages are the Sawall municipality in the north, which belongs to the municipality of Tauche in the Oder-Spree district , the Friedlander district of Pieskow in the northeast, Speichrow in the east, Jessern and Goyatz in the south, Ressen in the southwest and the Mittweide district in the northwest, which in turn belongs to Tauche .

Zaue lies on the western edge of the Schwielochsee . The state road 442 is about one kilometer southwest of the village.

history

Zaue was first mentioned in 1346 as "Czaw". The place name comes from the Sorbian language and means "place where there are owls". From 1529 until 1849 Zaue belonged to the Lieberose class and was owned by the von Schulenburg family . The place is in the historical settlement area of ​​the Sorbs.

After the Congress of Vienna , Zaue came to the Kingdom of Prussia as part of Niederlausitz . There the place was in the district of Lübben in the administrative district of Frankfurt . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Lübben district in the Cottbus district . On December 15, 1966, Zaue merged with the neighboring town of Ressen to form the new municipality of Ressen-Zaue . After the reunification , this community was in the Lübben district in Brandenburg . On October 1, 1992, Ressen-Zaue joined the Lieberose office . After the Brandenburg district reform of December 6, 1993, the community finally came to the newly formed district of Dahme-Spreewald . On October 26, 2003, Ressen-Zaue was merged with the communities of Goyatz , Jessern , Lamsfeld-Groß Liebitz , Mochow and Speichrow to form the new community of Schwielochsee .
