Abdelhafid benchabla (* 26. September 1986 in Zemmouri, Province Bourmedes , Algeria ) is an Algerian boxer in light heavyweight . He is around 1.86 m tall and left-hand boom .

Career

Benchabla was already 2007 Algerian champion, Arab military champion, silver medalist at the African Games in Algeria, as well as bronze medalist at the Arab championships in Tunisia and the military world games in India . At the Africa Games he was defeated by Ramadan Yasser and at the World Games by Sergei Kovalev .

In 2008 he won the Coupe des Nations in France , defeating René Krause , among others , and he was also able to fight for third place at the Feliks Stamm Tournament in Poland and the Ahmet Cömert Tournament in Turkey . He suffered his defeats against Artur Beterbijew and Mehdi Ghorbani . After winning the African qualification in Algeria, he was eligible to compete in the 2008 Olympic Games in China . At the Olympics he defeated Dinesh Kumar and this time also Ramadan Yasser before he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Zhang Xiaoping in 5th place.

2009 was another successful year. Benchabla won the Algerian Cup, the Arab Championships in Egypt , the African Championship in Mauritius and the Tammer tournament in Finland . Further successes were the second place at the Chemistry Cup in Germany (after defeat in the final against Robert Woge ) and the Mediterranean Games in Italy (after defeat in the final against Boško Drašković ), as well as third place at the Ahmet Cömert Tournament; After victories against José Larduet and İhsan Yıldırım Tarhan , he was eliminated again in the semifinals against Artur Beterbijew. At the 2009 World Championships in Italy, he defeated Vladimir Cheles, but lost in the second duel against Carlos Góngora .

In 2010 he won the Mohamed Trophy in Morocco and in 2011 the African Games in Mozambique . In 2013 he won gold at the Mediterranean Games in Turkey, defeating Gianluca Rosciglione, Avni Yıldırım and Abdelkader Bouhenia , among others . In 2015 he won the African Championships in Morocco and the African Games in the Republic of the Congo , defeating Abdelrahman Oraby in both finals. He was thus qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Qatar , where he failed in the first fight against Oleksandr Chysnjak .

In March 2016 he won the African Olympic qualification in Cameroon with victories against, among others, Kennedy Katende and Abdelrahman Oraby. He then started at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil and reached the quarter-finals by beating Albert Ramírez , where he was defeated by Joshua Buatsi .

He won the gold medal at the 2019 African Games in Morocco and then started at the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , where he was eliminated from Ammar Abduljabbar before reaching the medal ranks.

World Series of Boxing (WSB)

In the WSB Benchabla was extremely successful and won 17 out of 20 fights between 2010 and 2015. In the 2010/11 season he was unbeaten and won the individual ranking for WSB champion. His opponents defeated in the WSB include Teymur Məmm unddov , Michel Borges , Joe Ward and Ludovic Groguhe.
