Adnan Özbal (* 1958 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish vice admiral who was, among other things, the command of the coast guard (Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı) from 2013 to 2014 and since 2014 the commander in chief of the training and training command (Deniz Eğitim ve Öğretim Komutanlığı) of the Navy (Türk Deniz Kuvetleri) is.

Life

Officer and staff officer

After attending school in 1973, Özbal joined the naval cadet institute (Türk Deniz Kuvetleri) and then began his training as a naval officer at the naval school (Deniz Harp Okulu) , which he graduated in 1980 as a lieutenant at sea (Teğmen) . This was followed between 1991 and 1993 as a commander of the TCG Şahin and from 1993 to 1995 as a project officer of the intelligence department in the General Staff of Turkey .

In 1995 Özbal, who also obtained a diploma from the Faculty of Economics at Anadolu Üniversitesi in 1995 , became the commander of the missile speedboat TCG Rüzgar (P 344) and was then between 1996 and 1999 project officer for exercises at the headquarters of the NATO attack and support forces for southern Europe STRIKFORSOUTH ( Naval Striking and Support Forces Southern Europe) in Naples and, from 1999 to 2003, Head of Project and Financial Programs Unit of the Policy Planning Department in the High Command of the Navy. He then acted as commander of the 2nd speedboat flotilla between 2003 and 2005 and as head of the logistics department of the Northern Naval Regional Command (Kuzey Deniz Saha Komutanlığı) in Istanbul from 2005 to 2006 , before becoming head of the operations department there between 2006 and 2008.

Promotion to Vice Admiral

After his promotion to Flotilla Admiral (Tuğamiral) in 2008, Özbal acted as Chief of Staff of the Naval Regional Command North from 2008 to 2010 and then from 2010 to 2011 as commodore of the Schnellbootgeschwader (Hücumbot Filosu) and then from 2011 to 2012 as head of the personnel planning department and Personnel management in the Navy High Command.

In 2012 Özbal was promoted to Rear Admiral (Tümgeneral) and took over the post of commander of the Naval School (Deniz Harp Okulu) . On August 12, 2013, he succeeded Rear Admiral Hasan Uşaklıoğlu as the Coast Guard Commander (Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı) and remained in this post until he was replaced by Rear Admiral Hakan Üstem on August 12, 2014.

After the promotion to Vice Admiral (Koramiral) Özbal was finally on August 12, 2014 Commander of the Training and Education Command of the Navy (Deniz Eğitim ve Öğretim Komutanlığı) . On August 30, 2015 he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Turkish Navy Command and on August 22, 2017 he became the 26th Commander in Chief of the Turkish Navy .

Özbal, who was awarded the NATO medal , among other things , is married and has a daughter.
