Celal Eyiceoğlu

Celal Eyiceoğlu (* 1914 in Istanbul ; † March 26, 1983 ) was a Turkish admiral who was last from 1968 to 1972 Commander in Chief of the Navy ( Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri ) and then for some time ambassador to Japan .

Life

After attending school, Eyiceoğlu entered the Naval School ( Deniz Harp Okulu ) in 1933 and graduated from it in 1935 as a sub-lieutenant at sea. After a subsequent assignment as an officer on numerous warships, he became an officer auditor at the Naval Academy ( Deniz Harp Akademisi ) in 1941 , which he finished in 1944. He then worked again as an officer and staff officer on various ships and naval units and, most recently, until 1959 as a naval attaché at the embassy in Canada .

After his promotion to Flotilla Admiral in 1959 he was commander of the naval units on the Bosphorus ( İstanbul Boğazı Komutanlığı ) and then commander of the warship units . In 1962 he was promoted to Rear Admiral with simultaneous appointment as deputy head of the intelligence services department in the General Staff of Turkey , before he was then deputy commander in chief of the naval command north until 1964.

After he was promoted to Vice Admiral in 1964 , Eyiceoğlu became Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Command North ( Kuzey Deniz Saha Komutanlığı ) in Istanbul, which is responsible for the Marmara , Black Sea , Bosporus and Dardanelles , and was subsequently Commander in Chief of the Naval Command ( Donanma Komutanlığ ) at the Gölcük naval base , which includes the warship, mine-laying , submarine , assault boat , anti-mine vehicle , logistics support and naval aviation associations . In this role he was promoted to admiral in 1967.

On 21 August 1968 Admiral Eyiceoğlu was to succeed Admiral Necdet uranium appointed commander in chief of the navy and exercised this function until it in on August 30, 1972 retirement came. His successor as Commander-in-Chief of the Navy was then Admiral Kemal Kayacan , who was previously also Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet Command.

After retiring from active military service, he succeeded Mustafa Şükrü Elekdağ as ambassador to Japan in 1972 . In this post he was replaced by Nazif Çuhruk .
