Adrineh Simonian

Adrineh Simonian (born before 1977 in Tehran ) is an Armenian- Austrian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ). She sang leading roles at the Volksoper Vienna and made guest appearances on numerous stages across Europe. Today she works as a director for experimental, artistic pornography .

Life

Simonian comes from an Armenian family and has lived in Vienna since 1977. She first studied violin , piano and vocal pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, but eventually completed the opera and operetta school of the Vienna Conservatory and graduated with honors. At the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition 2000 she won 3rd prize in the opera category.

In 2000 she made her debut in the Johann Strauss opera One Night in Venice at the Vienna Chamber Opera , where she sang in the Fledermaus the following year . This was followed by small roles at the Vienna Volksoper in Vienna Schauspielhaus and the Klangbogen .

Volksoper Vienna

From 2001 to 2014 Adrineh Simonian was regularly on the stage of the Volksoper Vienna . There she took on small and medium-sized, but also large roles, such as the composer in Ariadne auf Naxos von Hofmannsthal / Strauss, the Giulietta Hoffmanns stories , the Hansel in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel or the title role in Carmen from Mérimée / Bizet. Her Mozart repertoire included the Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro , Zerlina and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni , the 2nd lady in the Magic Flute and the Annio La clemenza di Tito . Her 20th century opera roles included the Foreign Princess in Dvořák's Rusalka , Concepcion in Ravel's Spanish Hour and Hermia in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream .

Simonian also appeared regularly in operettas at the Volksoper - for example in Heuberger's Opera Ball , in Suppés Boccaccio and again in One Night in Venice . She also embodied Manja in Countess Mariza and Valencienne in the Merry Widow .

Guest engagements

The singer also played a number of song recitals and orchestral concerts. In 2004 she performed with Dave Brubeck and his quartet in the Großer Festspielhaus in Salzburg. She was heard in the Wiener Musikverein and in the Wiener Konzerthaus , in Paris and Rome. In Copenhagen she appeared as Tamiri in a concert performance of Mozart's Il re pastore under the direction of Ádám Fischer . Other well-known conductors with whom she has given concerts were Philippe Auguin , Frédéric Chaslin , Alfred Eschwé , Marco Guiaroini , Leopold Hager , Michael Halász , Martin Haselböck , Thomas Hengelbrock , Ernst Märzendorfer , Marc Piollet , Donald Runnicles and Claude Schnitzler .

Simonian has appeared as an opera singer at the Klagenfurt City Theater (Ottavia in L'incoronazione di Poppea ), at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse (in Oberon and Elektra ), and at the Opéra de Nice (in the Magic Flute ). In 2005 she made her debut as Enrichetta in Bellini's I puritani and later sang Lucienne in Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Die tote Stadt at the Vienna State Opera . In 2008 she received excellent reviews for her performance of Petrus in La Passione di Nostro Signore Gesu Christo by Josef Mysliveček at the Retz Festival , where she also sang Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell in 2010 . In the summer of 2013, she took on the role of Hansel in Josef Köpplinger's new production of Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel at the Jennersdorf Opera Festival . This was followed by the Juno in Handel's Semele in the Munich Theater am Gärtnerplatz and the Aldonza in the Man from La Mancha at the Stadttheater Baden . In 2014, the singer said goodbye to the opera stage at the Retz Festival with the title role in Vivaldi's Juditha triumphans .

Experimental pornography

In January 2016, Simonian presented the Arthouse Vienna website , which, according to its own statement, produces "experimental, artistic pornography", while according to the daily newspaper Kurier it produces "feminist porn".
