Alois Barmettler was a Swiss manufacturer of automobiles . The brand name was Albar .

Company history

Alois Barmettler, who was already manufacturing and selling buggies under the Beach Buggy brand between 1962 and 1966 , founded the company that bore his name in Buochs in 1978 and began producing automobiles that were available both complete and as kits . Production ended in 1993 or 1999. Barmettler also sold Custoca vehicles in Switzerland.

The company manufactured buggies and coupes based on the VW Beetle . Initially, the original chassis was used. A lattice frame was used later . The vehicles had plastic bodies. In later years, replicas of various vehicles such as the Ferrari F 40 , Ferrari F 50 , Lamborghini Countach , Porsche 356 and Porsche 959 were offered.
