The Braunfels District Court was a court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed as a branch from 1879 to 1968 and was based in the city of Braunfels until 1992 .

The Braunfels District Court was set up on the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879 and subordinated to the Limburg District Court . It replaced the two Braunfels court commissions of the Wetzlar district court and thus included

On October 1, 1892, the community of Allendorf was assigned to the Ehringshausen District Court and the communities of Laufdorf, Oberwetz and Schwalbach to the Wetzlar District Court .

On May 1, 1948, the community of Philippstein was added from the Weilburg district court .

On July 1, 1968, the Braunfels district court was repealed and the Philippstein community was reassigned to the Weilburg district court . The remaining municipalities of the old district court district now formed the district of the Braunfels branch of the district court Wetzlar , which was responsible for enforcement matters in immovable and movable property, bankruptcy matters, settlement procedures to avoid bankruptcy, land register matters, document matters, estate matters, matters of the Guardianship Court and those who left the church. The court was located in a building built between 1889 and 1891 according to plans by the royal building councilor Scheepers and the royal master builder Friese at Richtstraße 2.
