history

In the course of the separation of administration and justice in the former ducal Nassau offices after the Prussian annexation in 1866, the Prussian minister of justice decreed the establishment of a district court in Weilburg with effect from September 1, 1867. Its district was congruent with the Weilburg office, which was canceled at the same time, and thus consisted of the city of Weilburg and the villages of Ahausen , Allendorf , Altenkirchen , Audenschmiede , Aulenhausen , Barig-Selbenhausen , Bermbach , Dietenhausen , Dillhausen , Drommershausen , Edelsberg , Elkerhausen , Ernsthausen , Essershausen , Freienfels , Gräveneck , Hasselbach , Hirschhausen , Kirschhofen , Kubach , Laimbach , Langenbach , Löhnberg , Lützendorf , Mengerskirchen , Merenberg , Möttau , Niedershausen , Obershausen , Odersbach , Philippstein , Probbach , Reichenborn , Rohnstadt , Selters , Waldhausen , Weilmünster , Weinbach and Winkels . While this court initially belonged to the district of the Dillenburg District Court , it was assigned to the district of the newly established Limburg District Court with effect from October 1, 1879 due to the Courts Constitution Act , but the district court district itself remained unchanged.

With effect from January 1, 1933, the municipality of Waldernbach from the district of Hadamar district court and the municipality of Rückershausen from the district of Rennerod district court were assigned to the Weilburg district court.

The place Philippstein, however, had to be handed over to the district court of Braunfels on May 1, 1948 .

On July 1, 1968, the district court district of Weilburg expanded to include the district of the abolished district court of Runkel with the communities Arfurt , Aumenau , Blessenbach , Ennerich , Eschenau , Falkenbach , Gaudernbach , Heckholzhausen , Hofen , Langhecke , Laubuseschbach , Münster , Niedertiefenbach , Obertiefenbach , Runkel , Schadeck , Schupbach , Seelbach , Steeden , Villmar , Weyer , Wirbelau and Wolfenhausen as well as around Philippstein, which was part of the Braunfels District Court for 20 years.

The most recent changes to the district so far were the transfer of the suburbs Altenkirchen and Philippstein, which were incorporated into Braunfels, to the Wetzlar District Court on July 1, 1974 and the allocation of the city of Runkel and the town of Münster, which now belongs to the municipality of Selters, to the district of the Limburg District Court .
