Ann Hallenberg
Ann Hallenberg (born March 17, 1967 in Västerås ) is a Swedish opera and concert singer with a mezzo-soprano voice .
biography
She studied in Stockholm at the National College of Operatic Art with Kerstin Meyer and Erik Sædén. After graduating in 1994 she completed her education with Joy Mammen in London .
Her soft, agile and coloratura mezzo-soprano has given Ann Hallenberg a successful career, especially in the field of baroque opera . She is particularly well known as a Handel interpreter and, in addition to appearances on the opera stage and in the concert hall, has made numerous recordings of rare repertoire.
She had a kind of international breakthrough when she stepped in for Cecilia Bartoli at short notice and with great success as Piacere in Handel's Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno in Zurich in February 2003 . Further roles by Georg Friedrich Handel from Hallenberg's repertoire are Cornelia in Giulio Cesare , Teodata in Flavio , Irene in Tamerlano , the title role in Siroe , Tauride in Arianna , the title role in Ariodante , Tirinto in Imeneo , Arsamene in Serse , Dejanira in Hercules , Cyrus in Belshazzar and Storgé in Jephtha .
She has also sung in several works by Antonio Vivaldi , including the title role in the oratorio Juditha triumphans , Servilia in Tito Manlio , Ramiro in Motezuma , Bradamante in Orlando furioso and Licori in La Fida Ninfa .
Her operatic repertoire also includes Penelope in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria , Aristeo in Sartorio's Orfeo , Aristeo in Rossi's Orfeo , Deianira in Cavalli's Ercole Amante , Orfeo in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice , the title role in Gluck's Aristeo , the title role in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Ascanio in Alba , Dorabella in Così fan tutte and Sesto in La clemenza di Tito ; also Isabella in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri , Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia , Charlotte in Werther , the title role in Carmen , Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus and Clarice in The Love For Three Oranges .
Her sacred repertoire includes Bach's Christmas Oratorio , Pergolesi's Stabat Mater as well as Mozart's C minor Mass and Requiem .
Ann Hallenberg has also sung important works of the romantic concert repertoire, such as the love songs waltzes by Johannes Brahms , the Kindertotenlieder by Gustav Mahler and Ernest Chausson's Poême de l'amour et de la mer , as well as in Mahler's Symphony No. 3.
