archithese is an international series of publications on architecture and architectural theory , edited in Zurich . It appears four times a year.

profile

In archithese , critical debates about architectural concepts, projects and buildings appear. It makes references to art, philosophy, natural sciences and application technologies.

The magazine shows developments in architecture and urban planning . It mediates between theory and practice as well as between the architect and the user perspective. Backgrounds of projects are discussed, as is the position of the architect in society.

The texts appear primarily in German. Individual contributions are written in English. Since 2015, four events such as lectures, panel discussions and exhibitions have been organized under the archithese kontext label . In addition, the archithese website is a blog and news portal.

The content can also be called up as an e-paper using an app .

history

The magazine was founded in 1971 by Stanislaus von Moos and Hans Reinhard . The first 20 small-format editions appeared by 1976. Between 1977 and 1979, archithese worked with the magazine werk . 22 booklets were designed as a werk-archithese , including 14 double issues. Since 1980 the issue has been published again as an archithesis . Swiss Performance was established in 2001 . The first edition of the year discusses current buildings from Switzerland or projects that have been realized by Helvetic architects abroad.

After Stanislaus von Moos and Hans Reinhard, archithese's editors included Martin Steinmann , Werner Oechslin , J. Christoph Bürkle and Hubertus Adam. Jørg Himmelreich has been editor-in-chief since 2014.
